Are you a new business owner looking to improve your Google rankings? In this blog post, we’ll delve into the world of Google My Business and explore how you can give your business a quick boost in the map section and Google Business Profile. By following these simple steps, you’ll be on your way to enhancing your online visibility and attracting more customers. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Create Your Google Business Profile
Before we dive into the strategies for boosting your rankings, ensure you have a Google Business profile. If you haven’t set up your free Google Business profile yet, I recommend watching my video tutorial on how to do so. Once you’ve completed this step, you’re ready to move on to the next phase.
Step 2: Acquire 10 Google Reviews
To trigger a significant boost in your Google rankings, aim to accumulate at least 10 reviews on your Google Business profile. The rating itself doesn’t matter; whether it’s one star, three stars, or five stars, what’s crucial is reaching the review count milestone. Once you receive those initial 10 reviews, Google will automatically reward your efforts.
Witness the Ranking Boost:
Imagine you’re currently positioned at number 10 in Google’s search results. With the accumulation of 10 reviews, you could jump to number eight or even number seven. If you’re already at number five or four, this strategy can propel you into the top three, leading to increased phone calls and putting your business on the map.
Effortless Review Acquisition:
To make the process of obtaining reviews easier, I’ll guide you through a simple technique. Let’s navigate to Google and search for your business name. For demonstration purposes, let’s use my business name, Big West Marketing. When you locate your Google Business profile, you’ll notice the number of Google Reviews displayed. Obtaining 169 reviews, like mine, requires considerable time and effort, but the first 10 reviews are typically the most challenging.
Here’s How to Simplify the Process:
Ensure you’re logged into your Google account when searching for your business.
In the options displayed beneath your business profile, click on the small downward arrow and select “Ask for reviews.”
Google will provide you with a clean, convenient link. Copy this link and send it via text to your current client list, or use it every time you acquire a new customer or complete a job.
If you possess a list of current clients, you can send the link to all of them and politely request reviews. Keep in mind that not everyone will leave a review, but even a fraction of your clients taking action can make a difference.
Note: Remind reviewers to log into their Gmail accounts before leaving a review. Non-Gmail users will need to create a Gmail account to proceed.
Expanding Your Ranking Strategies:
While obtaining 10 Google Reviews is a vital step, it’s important to remember that there are numerous other tactics to enhance your Google rankings. To explore additional methods, I’ve prepared a comprehensive cheat sheet containing eight strategies that you can download for free. Simply click the link in the description below to access the cheat sheet. Each strategy is accompanied by video links, providing examples and step-by-step instructions to assist you in implementing these techniques effectively.
Conclusion:
By following these steps, you can give your new business a significant boost in Google rankings through Google My Business. Acquiring 10 reviews might require some effort, but the payoff in terms of improved visibility and increased customer engagement is well worth it.
