So you are starting a Pressure Washing business! Or maybe a Power Washing business, or maybe you are going straight into that Soft Washing niche (we’ll talk about what to do for those types of business models later!). The key is, you’re starting out and need to spread the word!
When it comes to successful pressure washing marketing, here is a brief outline of the steps:
Step #1: Build an optimized website that is properly structured for search.
Step #2: Solidify your online foundation with best SEO practices
Step #3: While your SEO takes hold, supplement your pressure washing leads with Google Ads
Step #4: Create and implement (fast!) a referral funnel, make your customers work for you!
Step #5: As a part of that system, collect Reviews and Social Proof to spread the word
Now, let’s jump into how you can make this happen!
(And keep in mind, if you’d like to really dive in, here is our Pressure Washing Marketing Course (that is free!) and will help get you started on the right foot.)
1. Building a Pressure Washing Website
First, set up your online front office, a.k.a. your Website. A well structured Pressure Washing website is critical for the growth and long-term success of your new business. Face it, you’re a brand new company and Google will need to learn to trust you. This crucial step is accomplished by building out a website that reflects all those main pressure washing services that you offer.
We know that you are a Pressure Washer, but you are also a Roof Cleaner and a House Washer and a Driveway Cleaner. A Patio/Deck Cleaner, maybe a Pier or Dock cleaner, Graffiti Removal Specialist, the list goes on and on!
If you offer these services, make sure you’ve got a page on your new website dedicated to each of those services. DO NOT create one page called “Services” and list your services! How is Google going to understand that you are the expert when you’ve got nothing to show for it?
For instance, you’re building out a “House Washing Services” page. This page should be filled with content on why people should get their house washed, the benefits of house washing, how often they should get their house washed and what your process looks like. You are the expert, this is your profession! It should be easy to rail off 300 words on why you are the expert in your area.
Lastly, don’t forget to let Google know where you are located. Be sure to include your City/State on each of your service pages. You are the best pressure washer in your city, state! This leads us to Strategy #2, Pressure Washing SEO.
2. Search Engine Optimization (I know, I know..)
Your website is built out and structured properly, check! Now, it’s time to move that baby up the ranks of Google! We’ll all heard horror stories but truth is, ranking #1 in Maps is the best place for your business!
This will be a battle, but one you can win with some serious hard work.
Get your Google My Business page listing verified with a physical address. In a perfect world, you’ve got a nice office space with an employee that answers the phone and your logo is plastered on the front door. But that is almost never the case for businesses just starting out. They are working out of their home or apartment. After all, the service is provided at the customer’s home or business.
That said, you still need to use a physical address where you can receive mail. No PO Boxes, no UPS Stores, no Virtual Offices! (Check out the address guidelines for Google here) Ask yourself, do you want to be in this for the long haul? Or do you want to be suspended in a month or two?
When you get your listing on Google verified, get to work! Optimize that listing (use all their features, add images, ask questions, etc!), then use that information, specifically your Business Name, Address and Phone Number, to get into the appropriate Local Business Directories. 3. Google Ads for Pressure Washing Companies
SEO for your Pressure Washing business will be based off that address that you verified. So if you are looking to reach more customers outside of town, jump into Google Ads to target those areas specifically.
Google Ads can be highly effective because people are literally searching for you. It’s like a warm lead ready to go!
The key is making sure that you can get your ad in front of the right searchers! We don’t want people clicking on your ad if they want to learn how to pressure wash or rent an electric pressure washer. Those are trash clicks and will end up blowing through your daily budget!
This is why the setup of your campaign will be of the utmost importance. Lock down your locations (don’t target the whole US!) and lock down your keywords.
And when people do click on your ad, make sure they are taken to an appropriate destination. Build a landing page specific to that ad on your website, focused on converting that person into a call! Landing pages are a major factor in an effective Google Ads Campaign. Please note that Big West Marketing does NOT offer Google Ads as a service. We do offer a training course. Check it out here!
4. Referrals for your new business
This step here is lost on most business owners. They are too focused on buying new equipment or checking their rankings each day, they forget that some of the easiest, most lucrative jobs come from Referrals. Put together a strong Referral program that will keep your business top-of-mind.
Stay away from “10% OFF” or “save $5 whole dollars on your next appointment!” Make it a true reward because it will be worth it to you in the long term.
Check out these Referral Strategies to give you an idea of what’s out there!
Your customers can turn into your best sales people! Imagine that.
5. Reviews and Feedback for your new Pressure Washing Business
Then, after you provide that expert, quality service, ALWAYS have a plan in place for Feedback. Whether it is a link to your Google My Business page that you send in a text or email for a review on Google (this will implicitly help out your SEO), or a form on your website or a recommendation on Facebook, it is paramount that you have a plan in place to build this feedback.
Reviews are the new word of mouth for those new customers that you are trying to reach online.
So if you take away anything from this article (glad to see you’ve made it this far!) it should be to have systems in place. Systems that anyone can follow, systems that if you hire a new guy or gal today, they will understand the importance of these strategies.
It’s hard to keep good workers, it’s even harder to train and train and train bad ones.
