All right, in this short video, I’m going to show you how to set up a YouTube account. So, you’ve never uploaded a YouTube video before. You’ve probably watched videos on YouTube, but you don’t have your own account set up. Well, if you have a Gmail account you can use that to set up your YouTube account. Your Gmail has all kinds of things that are set up for you that you don’t even know about, probably, and YouTube is one of those.
So, I’m in a fresh screen here. I’m not logged in to anything. And I’m going to go to youtube.com. All right, I’m simply going to go to Sign In. Now, I’m going to use an old Gmail, Google mail from a former client that I know has not set up a YouTube account under this. So, here I go, I’m going to put this in. I’m going to put the password for that account. Now, it pops me in YouTube, but you’re going to see that, now, your picture will be up here in the upper right. And to create your first video, to upload your first video all you do is click this little icon up here, the little camera with a plus in it and click Create, and then go to Upload Video.
And now you can go through and watch the tutorial, stuff like that. In this case, I just want to get to the point where I can upload a video. Oh, it’s asking me to set up names and stuff, so I’m going to set up a custom name, this channel name. It can be your business name, or you can use your personal name, whatever you want it to be. I’m going to choose Test Account because I’m not actually going to use this. I understand I’m creating a new Google account with its own settings, so I’m going to click Create.
I’m going to upload a picture, I’m going to do all that stuff later. I can do all that set up stuff later. You can do that when you log in and you can set up all this stuff, it steps you through all this stuff. So, like I said, what I really want to do in the beginning is just show you guys anytime you log into your YouTube account, and if you’re logged into your Gmail account, you go to youtube.com it’ll most likely just put you right in there, if not just reenter your password. But anytime you log in, hit this little icon on the top right, Upload Video. It’s not letting me, they really want me to follow their instructions. So, what I like to do is I like to have my video right here on my desktop, my MP4, or my .mov, or all the different video types.
All I’m going to do is drop it in here. And then, I can put the title of the video here. If I want to put a description here, you can put little thumbnail pictures, so that it has like a still picture when somebody uploads it, or when somebody views it. You can create playlists, you can do all this stuff. But to keep it very simple for you, drop it in, create a nice title, click Next. Oh, that there’s this new thing. No, this is not made for kids.
And what you want to do is make it public, if you make it public, then you can embed it onto your website, and you can use the different places on the internet. Then, you click Publish. Now, it’s going to take a little while for it to upload and process, depending on the size of the video. Like this says two minutes, but you get the point. Now, you’re going to have your own YouTube channel. You’re going to have a place to just put all your videos, and then you can embed them on your website, or have your web designer, if that’s us, we’ll do it for you, embed those onto the website for you.
