Google My Business, now known as the Google Business Profile, has become a vital tool for businesses to establish their online presence and attract more customers. One of the key features it offers is the ability to upload videos. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to use this beneficial tool effectively. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of uploading a video to your Google Business Profile and discuss the specifications you need to be aware of. Let’s delve into this topic on both desktop and mobile platforms.
Getting Started: The Basics
Start by logging into your Gmail account—the one with which you initially set up your Google Business Profile. Once you are logged in, search for your business name (for this example, let’s say it’s Big West Marketing). You should see several options on the search screen that you can edit. These options were previously accessible only from the dashboard, but they’re now conveniently available directly from the search results.
Uploading a Video: The Process
Once you’re on the search screen, look for the option to ‘add photo.’ You might be thinking, “But I want to upload a video.” Here’s where it gets a bit tricky. Once you click on ‘add photo,’ a pop-up screen will appear. On this screen, you’ll notice it says ‘photos and videos,’ and this is where you can upload your videos.
Before you start uploading videos, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with Google’s video guidelines. The video you want to upload must be up to 30 seconds long and should not exceed a file size of 75 megabytes. This size limitation is quite small for videos, so ensure your video meets these specifications before uploading. If your video gets rejected, recheck the file size and the length of the video.
After you’ve made sure your video fits Google’s specifications, go ahead and click on ‘select photos or videos.’ Navigate through your computer files, select the video you want to upload, and hit the upload button. It’s that simple—just like uploading a photo!
Uploading a Video via Smartphone
Now, let’s move to the smartphone process. Once you’re on the home screen of your phone, click on the Google app. Make sure you’re logged into the Gmail account that you used to set up your Google Business Profile.
Just like on desktop, search for your business name. You’ll see various options that you can edit directly on the search screen. Near your business name, you will see the main photo along with a number indicating the total amount of photos and videos uploaded (e.g., 250+).
Click on the photo, and a new screen will appear showcasing all your uploaded media. Now, click on ‘add a photo.’ Again, the process is akin to the desktop one: you select photos or videos, ensuring the video is up to 30 seconds long and less than 75 megabytes in size.
What if Your Video Doesn’t Appear Immediately?
In some cases, your video may not appear immediately after uploading. Google may initially reject it, but don’t panic. Come back and check in a few days before determining whether Google completely rejected your video or not.
Wrapping Up
That’s all there is to uploading a video on your Google Business Profile from a desktop or smartphone. It’s a simple process that can significantly enhance your business’s visibility online.
